Louanna Colón
Louanna Colón is a soprano vocalist who is passionate about creating ethereal experiences on the stage, inspired by her recollection of the first time she heard Mimi’s first aria from La Boheme in her car, overwhelmed by the emotion and intensity amongst musical lines. To recreate that ethereal moment for her audiences is her deepest motivation behind her musical approach. Louanna Colón seeks to build this musical approach and connection to her audience through opera roles, concert gigs and chamber and solo recitals. She has received invaluable coaching and perspective from her experience performing in the opera choruses for Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflote and The Rake’s Progress. She also performed in chamber ensembles for Monteverdi’s Poppea and Vaughan Williams Riders to the Sea. In the summer of 2022, she received a scholarship and participated in the Asian American Musical Society International Summer Music Institute. The institute took place in Italy where she received coaching and performed opera scenes and arias with faculty from the Washington National Opera and Sibelius Academy.
Louanna Colón also has a passion for teaching that has continued to grow as she gains more students and plays a role in their musical journeys. She uses her background in voice and instrumental performance in her work as an instructor, having studied the violin and piano for many years. She has previously worked with The Music Post, teaching private lessons from age 5 to adult in voice, piano and violin. She also taught in group settings, leading group classes and working as an instructor for music camps focused on children between kindergarten and third grade. She is currently working as a Private Teacher for the Baltimore School of Music and Lessons In Your Home Inc. The heart and soul of her teaching is leaving her students with a lasting love and passion for music that can shape their life and perspectives.
Louanna Colón graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in classical vocal performance from James Madison University summa cum laude. Currently, Louanna is attending the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance.
